Do cats like to fly?
Are you preparing to pack up your home and relocate to another part of the world? Soon as the TV and couch move the cat knows what is happening, even if your move is just a couple states away. The dog will have no clue but the cat knows if they have a aisle or window seat. We don’t know why this is so but you may still be curious about how we transport cats.
The cat relocation process can seem complicated if it involves an international destination which requires vet exams, health certificates and import permits. Learn more about delicate process of how cats can be made comfortable when they travel.
Cats Travel in the U.S.
Traveling within the Unites States and even Hawaii it is possible to arrange your pet’s travel itinerary but making international reservations is another matter. United and Delta Airlines require pet travel reservations to made by a professional pet transport company to ensure that USDA and IATA regulations are followed when live animals are transported.

Four types of cats who fly
First cat:
- sweet, couch pillow kitty, might have mice for friends.
- thinks if they don’t move you can’t see them.
- prefer to hide under a blanket tent if danger comes.
Thes cats travel well, as long as they get there fast.
Second cat:
- completely unsure of why anyone needs to travel at all.
- their face says they do not approve.
- not aggressive, will ask why is this happening for duration.
Cats might hide when they arrive in the new house.
They become themselves again after some quiet time.
Third cat:
- will have nothing to do with travel, might be aggressive.
- we always use extreme caution when we transport them.
We allow these cats to remain in their travel kennels placed alone in a cat room. We leave the kennel door open, provide supper and a litter box and leave them to their own schedule. These cats arrive at home and quickly become themselves again once they see the TV and couch.
Fourth cat:
- this cat is running for president.
- Nothing bothers them not even this.
- they welcomed this new adventure.
