Pet Travel Plan Details Research
Planning your pet’s travel itinerary begins with research. The USDA has a dedicated page with up-to-date information regarding your country’s destination pet import requirements – USDA APHIS pet travel.
Another excellent pet travel resource will be the International Pet and Animal Transport Association – a non-profit organization trade association of independent members dedicated to the safe and humane transport of pets and animals IPATA.org.
Some member companies and governments have dedicated pages for pets traveling – British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Heathrow Animal Reception Center, Australian Dept of Agriculture, and New Zealand MPI.
Please confirm your pet’s microchip number and date of birth for accuracy – import permits, blood test result documents, vaccine records, health certificates, pet’s final vet exam with health certificate, and USDA endorsement process will depend on this consistency. Contact any previous veterinarians to request copies of your pet’s medical history to support completing new pet health documents to travel.
